A Summary of the Teachings of God’s Word for the Last Days
1. I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and I want to live by its teachings.

2. I believe in the Father; His Son, Jesus Christ; and the Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:26.

3. I believe that because of His love, Jesus Christ died on the cross as a sacrifice for my sins of breaking God’s holy law. John 3:16.

4. I choose to accept Christ’s invitation to come to Him as I am and allow Him to give me His gift of repentance. Acts 5:31I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and believe that because Jesus shed His blood for me, He has purchased the right, to forgive my sins. I choose to confess my sins and believe that He forgives me and grants me the gift of eternal life according to His promise. Acts 4:12.

5. I desire Jesus to be the Ruler and Lord of my life. Therefore, I surrender my life to be ruled by Him and His truths. I also desire to grow in my understanding of His will and to maintain a relationship with Him through personal Bible study and prayer.

6. I believe that a Christian who loves Jesus will choose to keep the Ten Commandments. It is my purpose, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to obey this law of God.

7. I believe “the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord.” Exodus 20:8-11. As a follower of Jesus Christ, I want to keep the Sabbath holy “according to the commandment” (Luke 23:56) from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. Nehemiah 13:19.
8. I look forward to the literal, visible, and personal second coming of Jesus Christ in the clouds of heaven when “every eye shall see Him.” Revelation 1:7. It is my purpose to be ready for His appearing.
9. I believe the following: (1) Jesus Christ is ministering in His heavenly temple. Hebrews 8:1, 2; Revelation 11:19; (2) The “hour of His judgment is come.” Daniel 7:9.
10. I believe that the dead are asleep unconsciously in their graves awaiting the resurrection. Psalm 13:3.
11. I believe in the following: (1) The resurrection of the saved when Jesus returns. 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17. (2) The desolation of the earth and the binding of Satan for 1,000 years. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3; Jeremiah 4:23-26. (3) The righteous in heaven during the 1,000 years. Revelation 20:4. (4) The resurrection of the wicked and loosing of Satan at the end of the 1,000 years. Revelation 20:5, 7. (5) The final destruction of Satan and the wicked in the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15; Malachi 4:1-3. (6) The creation of a new heaven and new earth.

12. I believe that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:19. I will abstain from unclean foods (Genesis 7:2; Leviticus 11; 2 Corinthians 6:17, 18), alcohol (Proverbs 20:1; 23:29-33), tobacco, caffeine, and illegal drugs. Exodus 20:13. By God’s grace, I want to live a healthy life.
13. Through the power of Jesus, I desire to overcome the sinful ways of the world. 1 John 2:14-17. By God’s grace, I will avoid reading, watching, and listening to sinful things that the Bible condemns. Philippians 4:8; Ephesians 5:19. Wanting to follow in the humble steps of Jesus, I will not wear jewelry or immodest clothing.
14. I believe marriage between a man and woman was affirmed by Jesus and should be formally recognized by the laws of the state. Genesis 2:24; Hebrews 13:4. I will not be involved in a “common law” relationship.
15. I believe that the Seventh-day Adventist Church is the remnant church of Bible prophecy whose worldwide mission is to prepare people for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:17; 14:6-16 I believe in church organization (1 Corinthians 12:28), and in the importance of church attendance. Hebrews 10:25. I wish to follow the example of Jesus, who “as His custom was, went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day.”
16. I believe that Jesus has given “the spirit of prophecy” to His church, and I understand that the remnant church recognizes this gift in the ministry of Ellen G. White.

17. I believe that Jesus established the foot-washing service and the Lord’s Supper. John 13:1-17.
18. I believe in the biblical teaching of returning tithes and offerings. Malachi 3:8-10. Desiring to be a good steward of all God has given me, it is my purpose to support the Lord’s work according to my ability. As a steward, I will also refrain from gambling.
19. I believe in baptism by immersion (Matthew 3:16, 17), which symbolizes the burial of my old life of sin and resurrection to a new life in Jesus. Romans 6:3, 4. It is my desire to follow Jesus and be baptized (or re-baptized) and become a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Matthew 3:16, 17.
